Pod-style units are a unique room configuration that encourages students to leave their rooms and interact with their peers. Each room is a double-occupancy room with two beds, two desks, two closets, and two storage units.

These rooms all face onto the shared common area, which features a large living area with seating and TVs, dining area with kitchenette, table and bar seating, a four-person private study room, and separate men’s and women’s restrooms. One of the main design features of this organization is the creation of informal spaces to meet, interact, and study on campus for students. This pod-style design has been successful at both Lawrence Technical University and Heidelberg University. It encourages a healthy student life-style that is amenable to both academic and social functions.
